Facing fierce competition from opponents in the heavyweight class, martial artist Nguyen Huu Toan from Nam Dinh still excelled in affirming his talent with a gold medal at the 7th World Vovinam Championship held in Ho Chi Minh City.
This World Vovinam Championship witnessed remarkable progress from countries and territories, including the combat category, especially in the 92 kg weight class where Nguyen Huu Toan participated, with competition from opponents from Romania, Libya, Iran, and Russia.

With a confident attitude, determination and reasonable tactics, the boxer from Nam Dinh province defeated Adrian Bogdan (Romania) in the semi-finals and then defeated Stanislav Nosov (Russia) in the finals to win the championship. This is a very remarkable achievement of Nguyen Huu Toan and also the pride of Nam Dinh sports, showing the results of the right investment of Nam Dinh province in particular and the sports industry in general.

The 2023 World Vovinam Championship has take place from November 22 to 30 at Phu Tho Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) on a large scale, with the largest number of athletes and sports delegations participating in the history of the organization so far (650 athletes and coaches from 35 countries and territories) competing in 44 sets of medals with 26 martial arts events and 18 combat weight categories.

The tournament was held with great significance, right on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the founding of Vovinam – Viet Vo Dao. At the same time, Vovinam was also officially recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, aiming to build and develop it into a World Intangible Cultural Heritage.
